Yata Privacy Policy
Yata is a speech-to-speech translator built to work on your device. It has no accounts, no ads, and no servers of its own. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
What Yata collects
The developer collects nothing. Yata has no servers, and the developer never receives your voice, your text, or your translations.
Diagnostics sent by Google ML Kit
Yata's translation engine, Google ML Kit, sends usage and performance logs to Google when your device is online. According to what ML Kit records, these include the app's name and version, the ML Kit version, which language models are used (for example English to Hindi), your device's language setting, and a random ML Kit installation identifier. They do not include your speech, the text you speak, or your translations. This data goes to Google, not to the developer, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Microphone and speech recognition
Yata uses your microphone only while you are speaking after tapping a language button. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition service (Speech Services by Google), not by Yata.
- If the offline speech pack for that language is installed, recognition happens entirely on your device.
- If it is not installed, Google's speech service may process the audio online. That processing is covered by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one.
You can install offline speech packs from Yata's settings for fully on-device recognition.
Translation and speech output
Translation runs on your device using Google ML Kit language models. Spoken output uses your phone's text-to-speech engine. Neither sends your text anywhere.
When you download a language, the model is fetched from Google's servers. Like any download, this involves your device's network connection, but no text or voice is sent.
What stays on your device
- The two languages you last selected, so the app reopens ready to use.
- Downloaded language models.
- The most recent translation for each language, kept in memory so the replay button works. It is cleared when the app closes.
Deleting a language in Yata's settings removes that language's model from your device. Uninstalling Yata removes all of this.
Purchases
Yata is sold through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google; the developer does not receive your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Children
Yata is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
